Positive behaviour support

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is a way of working with someone to make their life better. By working together with them and their care support network to produce positive outcomes for all.

We do not just try to "fix" or punish a behaviour, as PBS Practitioner we look at the "why" behind a behaviour of concern. For example,  if someone is frustrated because they can’t explain what they need or if their environment is too loud and stressful.

A Behaviour Support Plan (BSP) is the outcome from obtaining data, from chats, meetings and assessments.
It’s a document written by us, certified by NDIS Behaviour Support Practitioners collectively.

The plan includes:

  • Proactive tricks: Simple changes to the person's day or surroundings to stop stress before it starts.
  • New skills: Teaching better ways for them to communicate or handle tough feelings.
  • A safety guide: A clear list of what to do if things do get difficult, so everyone stays safe and reacts the same way.
